The Center for East Asian and Pacific Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign welcomes applications for postdoctoral study at the University of Illinois funded by the Korea Foundation's Postdoctoral Fellowship Program. Applicants will apply simultaneously to the Korea Foundation and the University of Illinois; selection by the University of Illinois does not guarantee Korea Foundation selection, but the University of Illinois will advise the Korea Foundation of its selected candidate(s).
Scholars must have received their Ph.D. in a subject related to Korea within five years of their application; scholars who do not currently hold a regular faculty position are eligible to apply. Applicants must have received their Ph.D. degree prior to the start of their fellowship research. This program supports research in the humanities and social sciences. The post-doctoral stipend for a 12-month period will be determined in accordance with University of Illinois regulations. This fellowship cannot be combined with other sources of support, including other fellowships and grants.
The University of Illinois has hosted 4 Korea Foundation Postdoctoral Fellows, currently Erica Vogel – Ph.D., UC Irvine, anthropology, 2011- ) and Nicholas Harkness (Ph.D., Chicago, anthropology, Harvard University Assistant Professor, 2011- )
and in recent years Youngmin Choe (USC, Assistant Professor, East Asian Languages and Cultures) and Young-a Park (University of Hawaii at Manoa, Assistant Professor, Asian Studies).

To be eligible:
* Scholars must be from the humanities and social sciences.
